Description
An original Torchon Edging design by Jan Gardiner. This is a relatively large and challenging design that represents an interpretation of the classic Italian Style Garden seen in many country homes of the 18th and 19th century. The example shown utilised a floss silk for the edge fans, but, can be made fully in the recommended cotton. Although it appears to be a relatively straight forward implementation, Jan has utilised an interesting approach to complete the corners that eliminates the breaks at the corners generally associated with Torchon designs, and it is strongly advised to closely follow the instructions when working this part of the design. The completed lace is approximately 25.5 x 25.5cm (10 x 10 inches) in size.
Requirements: 61 to 65 pairs of Aurifil Mako 28 cotton or similar plus 1 gimp.
Aurifil thread can be found under the ‘Aurifil Mako Cotton’ tab in the ‘Threads and Wires’ section.
